Lehigh Valley Poetry Salon Mini Workshops

The weekly salon and open mic continues, but as some of you know- we have added a monthly mini workshop on the first session of the month. This started in November with “Revolutionary Cento” to explore the cento with radical, revolutionary source materials. This session was included as part of the programming for the Easton Book Festival and can still be viewed on the festival page at www.eastonbookfestival.com.

In December, we used a “word of the year” prompt to identify words that captured 2020. The idea is a short, generative prompt or exercise to explore a technique and keep us writing. Even if we don’t produce something that we love, the act of writing and pushing out of our routines can be beneficial. Participants can opt to share, or not. We follow these mini sessions with open mic at 9:00. Upcoming sessions in 2021: January 4, February 1, March 1, April 5, May 3.

November: Revolutionary Cento

December: Words of the Year

January: New Year, New Poetry: Three new forms with examples and a resolution to try one. Maybe you are more of a free form type, but wouldn’t mind a little Poetry 101. (8:30-9:00)

February: Ekphrastic Poetry. Poetry inspired by visual art with examples.
